New Funding Opportunities for Health

May 22, 2025

Due to recent cuts in funding to public health institutions, medical research, prevention programs, and emergency initiatives worldwide, a growing number of donors are stepping in to bridge the gap.

Today we share 7 new funding commitments added to our ImpactMapper 2025 Funding Database, a mapping project on how philanthropies and other donors and investors are meeting this moment:

  • Decolonizing Wealth Project launched this week the Youth Mental Health Fund aiming to redistribute a minimum of $15 million in grants over three years starting in 2025, prioritizing access for LGBTQ+ youth and youth of color: https://decolonizingwealth.com/liberated-capital/ymh/
  • GiveWell has approved grants totaling around $24 million in direct response to the 2025 cuts to US foreign aid spending including funding to bridge seasonal malaria prevention campaigns, procurement of HIV/syphilis dual tests and technical assistance to support Ministries of Health in different countries: https://www.givewell.org/research/funding-cuts

Want to follow new funding opportunities? Subscribe to receive free access to our 2025 Funding Database listing 170+ new funding commitments. We have created a detailed taxonomy to make the database more searchable according to users's needs, including fields such as issues funded, regions, type of fund, type of funder, if funds are open to the public or only for current grantees, etc. Our team wanted to help support the social impact and philanthropic and nonprofit sectors at this moment and figured we could use our research and taxonomy creation and coding skills (some of the things we do best at ImpactMapper) to prepare a database on funding commitments and share collated information back to the sector!

We will continue to add to the database this year, so feel free to share other commitments that you see as well by filling this short form and we will update the list regularly.

We will also be writing shorter blogs over the next months, showcasing some of the philanthropic strategies used at this time, including leveraging endowments, DAF funding campaigns, rapid response funding, etc.
